Operation Inked Magazine

A mission we will accomplish. Just a matter of when......

Erica and Christine have an opportunity to POSSIBLY (fingers crossed) be featured in Inked Magazine.  If there's one thing to know about the two owners of Head Rush, it's that they have a love for tattoos (and both have a lot on their bodies).

It's stereotypical to think that one tatted up is not successful, that they could never be the owners of a gorgeous hair salon. Think again.

So, first step we have to provide Inked Magazine pictures for one of the creative editors. We called a great friend and photographer to get the job done, George Stoff.

I am beyond impressed with how well the pictures came out. George is an amazing photographer and I highly recommend him if you need a shoot done.  He takes his time to make sure the end result is perfecto. (See for yourself below.)

Next step we submit the below pictures, and now we just sit back and stay positive for that return phone call.

While we wait enjoy the pictures below by the amazing George Stoff.

Here is his info:

Have a great weekend!!

New Year. New You. New Extensions?!

Nothing can make a woman feel better than having good hair! You can have the worst outfit on, old shoes, no makeup, but if your hair looks good, you feel good! So why not change it up for the new year and start with some extensions. Head Rush now offers three types of extensions: clip in, beads, and the new tape in.

Now I have had EVERY kind of extension, but one of my favorite as of right now are our tape-ins. I am slightly obsessed with them! If I could they would be everywhere. If you haven't seen mine, come in and see for yourself how amazing they are! I am basing my opinion not just what I think, but what clients have told me over the years.

You don't feel tape in extensions. You can not see them. (That's a good thing!) A lot of clients had trouble with clip in and the placement of them. They DO NOT matte and get knotty. BIG plus here. If you have had bead or fusion extension you know what I'm talking about. The hair is good for one year.
Awesome again. You get touch ups around every three months but you don't have to make that huge financial commitment as with fusion ones every time they get matted or one falls out. Tape in extensions only take a half hour to put in. If you have fine hair and are constantly wondering if someone can see your extension, tape ins are for you.

Now they are not good for everyone. Hence why we have the option of beads and clip in. The bead extensions are amazing. If you put your hair up a lot they might be a better option for you. (This won't work as well with tape-in.) Clip in extensions are good for someone who does not want to make a financial commitment at all. You pay one time for them and they last for years. You take them in and out as you want. You just will need some practice as they can be a little tricky.

So think about it. Add length, thickness and maybe even some color. The options are endless. No better time to make a change than now. Remember you could be in better hands. Head Rush is not only educated in Babe Extensions, the staff is part of the educators team on the east coast!

Hair Trends for 2013

Say goodbye to 2012. It's been real.

If you are looking for a new look for the new year, check out some of these hair trends for 2013.

1. THE HIDDEN BRAID

This is great for days when you want your hair out of your face. Easy to do and simple yet chic. Take a small piece from the side of your head, braid tightly and leave the end loose for blending. Whala!

2. ROUNDED BANGS

Let's face it, bangs are not going away anytime soon. More and more celebs are getting on the bandwagon and a way to update the look this year is to round them out and go thick. What's the difference between round and blunt bangs? Blunt goes straight across your head, while the round is an upside "U".

Styling Tip: Style your bangs as soon as you get out of shower. You could even use a Velcro roller to get that arch look.

4. SHORT SHORT HAIR

For the bold, this is one extreme look. If you are scared, just think, it's just hair, it will grow back. I know, easier said than done. Ask your stylist for the pixie cut. Miley Cyrus and Anne Hathaway both made the move, why not join them? ;0

5. MESSY UP DO'S

That look when you just throw up your hair quickly before running out to do errands, yea it's cool now. Throw it up, add some hairspray and go bobby pin crazy. Don't try to hard, the messier the better.

xoxo

Happy New Year!

Hair Accessory Gift Ideas

...For the hair lover in your life. Or maybe it's you. ;)  I always find my self buying one gift for myself for every gift I buy someone. Doesn't everyone do that?

1. Head Rush Gift Basket

Find these at the salon from small baskets to large baskets. We can even customize the basket to your favorite hair products and include some of fun things like nail polish, a gift card to the salon and hair brushes.

2. Emi-Jay Hair Ties (Available at Nordstrom)

These are amazing and a great stocking stuffer idea. Not only are they colorful and fun to wear, they are made out of a soft material that prevents the dents you would normally get with an elastic ponytail holder. Bonus points: they don't snap when you tie up your hair!

3. Kerastase Gift Set

Another great basket available at Head Rush. Actually it's a box set. We have two choices to pick from, the Chroma Captive Set and the Christalliste set. The Christalliste line works great for women with long hair and the Chroma Captive line is great to protect your color. See any stylist if you have any questions on our products.

4. Head Bands

So many choices on where to get these (and some really cute ones this year). I love that anyone can rock a headband, short hair to long hair and it's great on days you want you hair out of your face. The above are from Anthropologie.

5. Jane Tran Multi Plaid Pony Box (Avalable at Dan's in Great Neck or Bergdorf Goodman)

These are like next level pony tail holders. Who knew they could be this cool?! Not only does Jane Tran have awesome ponytail holders, ALL of her hair accessories are adorable so I suggest checking out the entire website for yourself here.

Happy Hair = Happy Holidays!!

2012 Winter Makeup Trends

Sick of wearing the same makeup day in and day out? Here are some of this winter's hottest trends!  Give them a shot, why not!

Everyone feels a little pale this time of year (I know I certainly do), but it's okay to do without tons of blush and bronzer! Having pale or more natural looking skin was one of this  years hottest trends on the runways. Instead of putting bronzer all over use it as a tool for contouring, along your hairline and right beneath the cheek bones. This will keep that natural look but still define your facial features. And my  new favorite makeup secret is a product called FreshFace Glow by Fresh. (It is amazing.) I use it after my moisturizer and primer, it gives your skin a beautiful glow you don;t need anything else!

Another fun trend you might like to try is the multi-colored smokey eye. Instead of using dark colors like grey, black and navy blue try the smokey eye with brighter jewel toned colors. Of course the color of your eye is something you factor in when choosing your shadow colors but if your eyes and face can handle it, try this with a purple and gold or a brighter blue and pale orange.

Liner is so important now as it always was.  Except this time if you want to make it stand out a bit more, go for it, because the cat eye is what's hot now! So when you're putting on your liner in the morning why not make it a little thicker towards the outer corner of your eye and kick it up! It'll make your eyes stand out and give them a little extra pop! This can not always be the easiest to do so I recommend using an eyeliner brush and gel or creme liner, Mac and Bobbi Brown both make great ones!

So we all know everyone is obsessed with vampires these days and now the new trend is to have vampire lips! Dark reds, burgundy, win
e and deep purple lips are all the craze right now! This can be a little scary for some people who never wear dark lip colors but if you want to try it find a color you like and if it feels too dark put a lighter shade of lipstick or gloss over it.  It will still give you that darkness but won't be too dramatic. Also, don't forget to line your lips! This is so important to giving them a finished look and nice shape, it also helps the lipstick stay longer.

And finally one more of this winter's hot trends and my personal favorite, bold eyebrows.  This year on the runway many designers featured models with extravagant eyebrows and by that I mean rhinestones, jewels and gold and silver flakes all over their eyebrows! As this might be a little too much for everyday wear you might want to try just filling in your eyebrows. For me personally, I have not been grooming them as much as I normally would, I am letting them grow and just cleaning them up with the tweezers.  For filling in eyebrows I always use a slanted brush and an eyeshadow or brow shadow that is a tad lighter than my real eyebrow color. Using a brush and shadow is much easier and more natural looking than using a pencil.  By doing this you are able to give your eyebrows that perfect shape that maybe you don't naturally have and I'm telling you bolder eyebrows gives you a such a nice look and makes all your features stand out even more.

Try one or try them all, but whatever you do don't be afraid to do something different with your look! And remember it's makeup so if you don't like what you did, take it off and try it again!
